Mouton fur (North America) or beaver lamb (UK) is sheepskin which has been processed to resemble beaver or seal fur (mouton is French for “sheep”). Mouton fur is lambskin whose hair has been straightened, chemically treated, and thermally set to produce a moisture-repellent finish.
Mouton comes from lambs raised for food. They are not killed for sport.
Measurements taken laying flat are:
Armpit to armpit – 19″
Shoulder to shoulder – 15″
Sleeve length – 22″
Center back length – 24″ collar to hem.
Coat is very clean and in great condition. The lining was hand sown and there may be a few looks threads in lining but no holes.
(note: real fur has natural flaws such as when folded the hide can be seen, this is normal and not a blemish ).
